Join the research team of the laboratory.
Residencies are research stays at Sintérgica Labs. The resident joins one of the seven active lines and an ongoing project, with guidance from the team. Training researchers through projects, theses and residencies is one of the laboratory's institutional objectives.

A working stay within an active project
The resident takes part in open problems, alongside the team developing them.
The laboratory hosts students on professional internships from Tecnológico Nacional de México, Campus Veracruz. The residency extends that arrangement to any institution: a research line and a specific ongoing project are assigned.
The activities correspond to the team's ordinary work: curation and validation of datasets from Mexico and Latin America, experimentation with language models, evaluation and explainability, or the ethics and governance framework that runs across every line.
Duration, dedication and conditions are agreed case by case with the home institution and the corresponding academic programme. We recommend consulting before assuming a format: each residency is defined individually.
Scope of the residency
Verifiable work, academic guidance and engagement with the scientific ecosystem.
Guidance from the research team
Joint work with the laboratory's director and the data scientists, with regular review of progress.
Participation in a current project
Incorporation into one of the eight ongoing projects. Results are integrated into the laboratory's research.
A route to a thesis or publication
Where the work merits it, this may lead to a thesis or a contribution to a laboratory publication, as occurred with the paper presented at COMIA.
Institutional certificate
Participation is documented for the home institution, detailing the project and the activities carried out.
Who it is intended for
Academic background is valued and, above all, methodological rigour and scientific curiosity.
Undergraduate students
In computing, mathematics, linguistics, engineering or related areas, requiring internships or social service with research content.
Graduate students
With a thesis topic in AI, natural language processing or data science converging with one of the active lines.
Recent graduates
Seeking a first formal research experience prior to entering a graduate programme.
Non-technical profiles
Philosophy, law, linguistics or social sciences, for the line on AI alignment, governance and constitutionality.
If your profile does not match the above but your topic converges with one of the lines, you may apply all the same.
Four stages
From the application to the agreement with the home institution.
- 01
